WV School Board finds space for day care

in anticipation,

then clapped and cheered: when the board

found a spare classroom for Ridgeview day care during the

coming year.

Fiona Cantell, who recently ar-
tived from London, England, | said
in an interview that. she |
“‘delighted!"’ that her daughter
could stay in that day care for
another year.

“It's the. first time she’s really i
wanted to go to day care,’’ Cantell :
had told the board carlier in the;
meeting.

for the Ridgeview day care ; by
transferring 2a preschool class’ to
Hollyburn Elementary School.

But Smith said the board and
the parent, in conjunction with the
municipal, provincial and federal

for the day care by mid-1989 when
Ridgeview school will be too full to
provide more day- -care space.

The day-care crisis across West
Vancouver will soon be unavoid- —
able, Smith said. ;

“There's almost a sweet irony in
all of this,°" board member Jean
Ferguson said.

She said it was ironic that the.
success of the Ridgeview day care
in ‘attracting students to- that
school was now increasing the
school population to the point that
the day. care was being pushed out
