Property owner opposes Lonsda OPEN LETTER TO NORTH VANCOUVER CITY COUNCIL This letter is written out of grave concern for the proposed Quay Tower to be built by Basa Bros., which is presently in the planning stages and, according to information from the North Shore News, has received tentative ap- proval by council. As an affected property owner in this area, I am very much against any construction of more highrises in a neighborhood that consists mostly of three to four- storey frame buildings and family homes. I have invested in this con- dominium property on Lonsdale and Sth Street to be able to enjoy it one day when the upkeep of my house becomes a physical burden. One of the reasons [ bought was the view this apartment affords. Once highrise breeds another. Is council on the way to create another West End on the North Shore? Is council only concerned to serve Big Business withvut regard to the pleas of thousands of residents who will definitely even- tually have their views of the har- bor, the bridges, the waterfront and Stanley Park replaced with the sight of concrete towers and black-paved parking lots? These council members have been elected to their positions by the citizens of this city to represent and regard their interests and not Hansen thanks supporters Dea. Editor: Now that the Man In Motion World Tour is over and I have completed most of the commit- ments and responsibilities during the wind-down phase, I have had an opportunity to reflect on some of the experiences and highlights of the tour. One thing that consistently comes to mind and has inspired me to write this letter to you is the in- credible support generated in each community as we travelled home across Canada. It was because of this team effort that we were able to accomplish the objectives of the Man in Motion World Tour beyond our wildest dreams. I would like to take this oppor- tunity to thank everyone on the North Shore who participated and helped fulfil my dream. Your friendship, love and support have meant more to me than words can ever express. I would like to sacourage everyone in this country to remember that the dream of one day seeing all disabled persons having the opportunity to reach their full potential has still not been accomplished. With your continued support, we will ultimately achieve that goal.
