DEAR MISS MANNERS — My husband and I, both 20,
were recently married and are very happy, but there is une

problem. Our

parents don’t

know about it. They

discouraged us from marrying, because we are still atten-

ding college.

Right now, even though we are
married, I live with my family and
he lives with his. Hopefully, we
will 'soon be moving into a home
of our own.

How do we break the news of
our wedding to our families

without breaking their hearts? Do
we have a reception and tell them
then?

The way to do it is to set up
private meetings with the two fam-
ilies separately and break the news
to them by saying how sorry you
were to disappoint them, but how
much you believe they will unders-
tand your impatience and make the
best of it.
