A longshoreman slipped
on a wet deck aboard a bulk
loading lumber ship. The
longshoreman injured his
back and was later transport-
ed to hospital for treatment.

on jan. 16:

David Phillip, 32, of
North Vancouver, received
nine months’ probation after
he pleaded guilty to breach-
ing probation by failing to
report to a probation officer
on Oct, 24, 1995.

Maurice Bruce Gardiner,
49, of Coquitlam, was jailed
six months after he pleaded
guilty to driving while pro-
hibited on April 14, 1995 in
North Vancouver City.

The jail sentence was. to

* jail sentence he was serving.

Vancouver provincial court
on Jan. 15:

Alfonso Espinosa, 46, of
Vancouver, was jailed 30
days after he pleaded guilty
to possessing three stolen

in North Vancouver District.

SF City and District of North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce are pleased
to announce the third annual North Vancouver Violence Prevention Award.

{ This award recognizes the efforts of individuals, groups and organizations whose event

program or action, during 1995 benefitted those living or working in North Vancouver

F in one of following ways:

* Increased public awareness of the issue

of violence:

* Development of strategies of address

violence;

© Creation of or amendments to, policies
to effectively deal with the issue of

violence:

* Lasting effeci e.g. long term behavior
and attitude change;

* Changes in environment which will
reduce the likelihood of violence.

Nominations are now being accepted.
