Van artist a man about town ONE WOULDN'T be out of line in calling local artist Gregg Simpson a man about town. ; The North Vancouver resident is currently exhibiting his works in three locations in Vancouver. Meditations on Modernism, a series of hard-edge geometric studies from 1992, appears at the Glass Slipper, a jazz club at 2714 Prince Edward in Vancouver. A second exhibit, the Maeght Suite, a series of oils that the artist completed upon returning from a recent trip to Europe, is on display at the Vancouver Cultural Alliance at 928 Howe St. Classic Mode , Simpson's third exhibition, a series of black and white photographs, is at Montgomery Fine Art Services, 76 W. Cordova. Simpson was recently appointed to the board of directors of the North Vancouver Community Arts Council. He says his principal con- cern will be to generate funds to establish a modern art gallery that shows only works by Lower Mainland painters and sculptors.
