Woolco to turn Wal-Mart |

as retail giant moves in

North Vancouver store one of 120 in purchase deal

CAPILANC MALL’s Woolco
store is tentatively slated to
become a Wal-Mart retail out-
let sometime in carly March.

Wal-Mart. an American-based
discount giant, made a deal Jan. 13

to buy approximately 120 af the
142 Woolco stores across Canada
from Woolworth Canada Ine.

The deal must be cleared ty the
federal government. Woolworth
Canada spokesman John Berrington
did not disclose the cost of the deal,

Berrington. speaking from Tor-
onto Woolworth’s main office. said
Woolco employees are not expect-
ed to fuse their jobs.
