great. They’re listed in the weekly
‘guidebooks such as What's On in
London.

They tend to change every time
I visit but you can always find a
theme that will interest you.

I’ve done ghostly ones, literary
ones, back streets and back alleys.

There are famous pub ones —
too many to list.

pounds and take about two hours
from central locations, mid-after-
noons.

The guides are well trained and
often very funny.

Now, about my favorite fish
and chippery.

{ found the Sea Shell on Lisson
Grove, near Marylebone tube sta-
tion many years ago. It was a
great place to stop for lunch,
especially if you were touring the
Baker Street (Sherlock Holmes)
route or Madame Tussaud’s.

Unfortunately, they've
redecorated. There’s still a take-
out adjoining, but if you sit in the
fancy new restaurant, you'll pay
nearly $20 for the most basic
order. Such a shame.

Until] find another run-down
little spot, i'm saving my craving
for fish and chips for small towns
with a storefront across from the
pub.

everyone dressed well — jackets
and ties and at least a dress and

This time, | saw jeans and other
scruffy combinations, although
