Lynn Valley Lions are
holding Lynn Valley Day on
Saturday, May 29 at Lynn
Valley Park (Mountain
Highway and Frederick
Road}. There will be a
parade, entertainment for
kids and adults, and huge
craft fair. Kick-off time is 8
a.m. with a pancake
breakfast followed by the
parade at 10 a.m.

MAPLEWOOD FARMS...
The lambing season is over
and now it’s time 1o once
again sheer the sheep at
North Vancouver’s
Maplewood Farms. Profes-
sional sheep shearer Matt
Robley, of Salt Spring Island,
assisted by his Border Collie
dog, will be rounding up the
flock for shearing at 1] a.m.
and 1 p.m. on Sunday, “t2y

of craft evhibitors will be on
hand to demonstrate carding,
spinning, weaving and other
processes that can be done
with wool once it is sheared
off the sheep. Cowboys and
cowgirls can get back in the
saddle for pony trail rides
‘around the natural pond.
This sheep fair is considered a
Celebration of Spring by reg-
ular farm visitors, and this
marks the 13th annual event
held on the farm. Maplewood
Farm is open from 10 a.m. to

SUMMER CAMP...
Capilano College is once
again offering a summer
camp that gives Japanese and
Canadian children a chance
to learn about cach other
while having fun. The Japa-
nese and Canadian children at
Camp Horizon share a varicty
of play and outdoor activities
that give them an awareness
of themselves as global citi-
zens, Activities include: cul-
tural and language com-
municaiion; hiking; horse-
back riding; canoeing; camp-
ing-out skills; and arts and
crafts, The program also in-
cludes a swimin an alpine lake.

excursion to Whistler
Village.Camp dates are: July
27 to 31° (Camp A) and
Aug. 2 to 7 (Camp B). The
six-day camp -— for 12- to
15-vear-olds -- takes place at
the North Vancouver Out-
door School at Cheakamus in
