20 - Friday, Apa 10, 1992 — North Shore News “ENVIRONMENT WV kicks off annual clean up From page 19 long, or, um, 33,600 metres, which is 33.6 km. Wow! That's a trail of phone books all the way from Horseshoe Bay to the Oak Street bridge! Fortunately, this highway of volumes doesn’t have to be sent to the Burnaby incinerator. Starting April 13, you can drop them off (white, yellow or pink pages) in the collection bins located in the parking lots of the Safeway stores at Westview, Lonsdale and 13th, Lynn Valley Centre, and the new Parkgate plaza on Mt. Seymour Parkway, and at Woodward's World of Food in Park Royal North. Please remember that the bins will be located in the parking lots, so don’t disrupt. the workings of the supermarkets by bringing your books inside. The collection bins will be on site until mid-August, so you've got plenty of time to drop off your books. You can help even more by touring your neighborhood and taking your friends’ books along with you as well. West Vancouver is holding its annual Spring Clean Up from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, April 30. During this time, West Van residents are able to put out household waste for pick up in greater quantities than is normally permitted by bylaw. West Van is, however, en- couraging residents to recycle what can be recycled. For example, yard waste can go to the North Shore Transfer Sta- . tion for chipping, old tires can be returned to most tire retailers, motor oil goes to Mohawk gas stations or Canadian Tire stores, and so on. If you’re unsure if or where something can be recycled, call the B.C. Recycling Hotline at 732- 9253.
