TWENTY-FOUR years of lost tax revenue is enough, North Van- couver City Council decided Feb. 4 when they passed a motion to try to get expropriated city lands back from the province. In 1966, the province claimed city land for the future construc- tion of the Upper Levels Highway interchange at Westview Drive, but now that the diamond ex- change option has been chosen for- the project, the province no longer needs all of the land it holds in reserve, explained Ald. Stella jo Dean, who forwarded the motion to get the land back. Dean said that because the city has lost 24 years worth of benefits from the land, and because the property has not been maintained, the city should be allowed to reclaim the surplus land for a nominal fe. The lost tax revenues, she said, would compound to a very large sum of money. aI’ve got the key to your future! D. Brent Eilers For personal attention to every detail, give me a call...
