The office managed to place over 1,600 students in ‘‘rewarding and challenging” Jobs. * THE B.C. chapier of the Ameri- can Marketing Association (BCAMA) has announced that Toblerone and Nabob Foods Ltd. are the winners of the 1990 Mar- keter of the Year Award. Nabob, the Canadian marketer of Toblerone, Europe's leading Swiss chocolate bar, will be honored at a dinner Sept. 18 at the New World Harbourside Hotel in Vancouver. Toblerone has become the number one imported chocolate bar in Canada. Nabob, undaunted by a limited budget, departed from Toblerone's world wide Strategy to capitalize on different consumer attitudes towards choco- fate in Canada and, in only three short years, tripled Canadian sales. The BCAMA is a Canadian chapter of an_ international association dedicated to the pro- motion and education of the mar- keting community. By Catherine Wheeler Contributing Writer A job-finding club is a program in which participants share their knowledge and resources. A coach gives valuable up-to-date informa- tion on networking, interview skills, Self-marketing, resume de- velopment and many other job search techniques. The goal of the club is to help all participants obtain a job of the highest quality in the shortest fea- sible time period. And it works; between 80 and 90 per cent are successful in finding jobs ap- propriate to their abilities. Federally funded by Canada Employment, the program offers excellent instruction, group sup- port and a resume service. “This is the best course you can find in B.C.,"’ states one job- seeker. Another offers, ‘ht com- pares favorably with courses you pay four or five hundred dollars for elsewhere.” Program instructor Darlene Lux explains, ‘*‘The skills we teach are very effective. But more important is the enthusiasm that’s generated by the group as people gain con- fidence.
