The main reporting duties are set out in Section 73 of the ICBC Regulations _
and the Motor Vehicle Act. They require the person involved in an accident -

to do the following:

1. Promptly provide ICBC with written natice with all available particulars
of any accident involving death, injury, damage or loss in which a vehicle either

driven or owned by the insured has been involved.

2. If you are involved in an accident with damage to persons or property
apparently exceeding $400.00 you must report the accident with alt particulars
to a Police Officer. These reports when filed with the Police are available to,

ICBC at any time at its request.

If you are sued, you must cooperate with.ICBC i in the investigation,

settlement and defence of the lawsuit against you.

Note that there is no requirement to actually attend at ICBC to provide
the information in question, simply that the statement setting out the material

your insurance coverage.

If you have concerns with respect tu the legal responsibitity for an accident
in which you are involved, it might be wise to discuss the contents of the written

notice with legal counsel before providing same to ICBC.
