Al2 - Wednesday, April 20, 1983 - North Shore News WEST VAN COUNCIL ‘STILL DITHERING’ HOT full-course lunches will not be on the menu at the Seniors Activity Centre for a while. The centre badly needs new cooking facilities but West Vancouver Council offered money towards the improvements including New Horizon, Kiwanis Club and Silver Bay Vista Society. Council estimates that its total 1983 costs would be aboat $27,400. The centre used to provide a full-course hot lunch to 70 seniors once a week. But the existing stoves could. not cope with the demand and the centre has Seniors’ meals on back burner been forced to cut back to soup and sandwiches in- stead. “It’s a pity because the seniors used to look forward to their weekly hot meal with their friends,” said Shell. She was hopeful, however, that council seemed to be in favour of doing all the renovations at once instead of in two stages. The centre urgently needed the new kitchen facilities — new cooking Stoves, a dishwasher and refrigerator, so that it wouldn't have to bring in caterers for all its big func- tions, explained Schell.
