BUSINESS FEES for video games in North Vancouver City will be $60, and not $120, City council’s policy committee decided Monday. But council couldn't make a decision on a maximum fee to charge businesses that have video game machines and, after rejecting several figures on tie votes, ad- journed the discussion to the next policy committee meeting. The $60 per-machine fee will be in place for 1984 if council passes the revised bylaw recommended by the pohcy committee. Last year council] passed new zoning regulations for the machines — including a hmit of eight machines per . no business and a restriction on the amount of floor space an arcade portion of a business can occupy. Alderman Gary Payne tned Monday to restrict the upper limit on the business fees to $1,000, but failed. Other figures proposed — $1,100, $1,500 and $2,000 were also defeated. The upper limit concerns businesses such as Right On Submarines and Amusements and Circuit Circus, which have 28 and 26 machines respectively. Without limit, Right On would pay $1,680 per year, while Circuit Circus would pay $1,560.
