payers to protect themselves
against such groups by turn-

ing out to vote on . November |

Lakes, who has served the
District in numerous capa-
cities for over 25 years, is a
‘strong advocate of spending
restraint by council.

Dean demands 0 Option ‘A’

on industry, thereby reliev-
ing homeowners — is a ma-.
jor demand of North Van Ci-
ty Alderman Stella Jo Dean
who is seeking re-election
for a further term in the
November 21 election.

In a statement issued
Thursday Dean noted that
she was the first advocate on
council of tax option ‘A’,
recognizing that the present
option ‘D’ is equitable in
theory but “most unfair” in
practice.

However, Dean added, a
real reduction in taxes can
only cofne from close
scrutiny of expenses and a
proper realization of City
assets. As an example she
recommended national
advertising to get the best
price for City-owned prime
lands in Lower Lonsdale.

To date Dean has served
nine years on council where
