National Ski Week 1979
will celebrate the 100th

anniversary of skiing’ in

Canada during the period of
January 20-28, 1979.

Co-ordinated by the non-
profit Canadian Ski Council
and its member
organizations, National Ski
Week is designed to en-
courage non-skiing
Canadians to discover alpine
and.cross-country skiing as a
dun-filied, healthful winter
sport and recreation fit for
the entire family. The theme
for the. awareness program is

“Try Skiing, Canada”.

The carliest documented
account of skiing in Canada
dates back to 1879 when a
