Recently, awaiting my usual
bus, I and other transit riders
were witness to a near disaster at
Phibbs Exchange,

A bus pulled into the exchange
that had somchow. managed to
have a decrepit mattress wedged in

The discounts are getting deeper _
It's Storewide on almost everything,

Wisps of smoke became billows,
making it appear that the uwnfor-
tunate bus was to turn into a
fireball.

Three transit drivers, however,
immediately noticed the danger
and set about extricating the ob-

Senate, not VSO funds

Dear Editor:

Reading your Spotlight
feature in Wednesday's issue
(lune 23) makes me feel rather
sad.

How come senators can vote
a $6,000 expense increase for
themselves withoul so much as

considering the nagging deficit
shrinking government grants
mean to symphony orchestras
right across the country?

How about cutting down on
the number of senators !
