INQUIRING .REPORTER Would you suppéit a casino with-slot machine TIME is running out for those who'd like to see gaming tables busy and stot machines whirring on the North Shore in the name of charity. According to the time frame set out by the provincial government, all potential casino operators are to have a general resolution of support from their host municipalities just one week from today, On our guiet shore, the likelihood of a charity casino seems stim. Both North Vancouver City council and the District reporter of North Vancouver council recently endorsed existing ————— policies which oppose gambling in their municipalities. In West Vancouver, the issue is not on the table. But if one of the North Shore's First Nations applies to the provincial government for a licence to run a destination casino on the North Shore, loca! government will have no say in the matter. And local charities may not benefit from profits scooped from those tables and slot machines.
