Sunday, June 7, 1998 — North Shore News — 21 Outdoor dining in candlelight CANDLELIGHT is a beautiful way to add ambience to your outdoor summer din- ner party. Nothing sets the mood better than a soft Slicker of light on your dinner table or deck. There are many differ- ent ways to display candles on your deck or in your back- yard. Ore war is to use lanierns. Thev can be hung or placed somewhere on your pauo, and ihe sauce thing about hee fs thar the evening breeze won't blew out the flame. Another idea is to use wrought iron candle sconces with hurricane lamps. These sconces are wonderful because not only do they provide candlelight, but they also decorate your patio wall. If you're looking for a unique look, try putting sand in the bottom of your class candle holders, then placing a tea Jamp on top of the sand. Glass candle holders can be pur- chased to sit on a table or hang from a post. . It is important to remember to always carefully monitor your lit candles. They should be placed ‘away from small children and hazardous areas, Another point to remember when working with hanging lanterns is to use a hanging material of a non-flammable nature. The chain or cord will often heat up with the lantern. I think vou will find that a touch of candlelight on your deck is all it takes to add style and charm to your summer evening. — Barb Lunter lives in West Vancouver.
