This little British film wouldn't
catch anyone’s attention if not for
two things. First, it stars Stephen
Rea (The Crying Game, Angie)
10 years before his rumpled face
achieved its current hang-dog

State.

And second, there’s the plot.
When Harry (Rea) meets Sally
(Lindsay Duncan), they agree to
share the driving from Liverpool
to Germany, but that’s about all
they can agree on. Hmmm, ring
a bell? (... think Billy Crystal and
Meg Ryan). Trouble is, this film
isn’t nearly up to that popular hit.

Although it’s nicely acted, this

is one time when Hollywood:

actually improved on a British
film. Loose Connections just
doesn’t create many sparks.
