JOY TELLS ALL ALAN TAYLOR, longtime CEO of North Vancouver's Sussex Reaity, set himself two big challenges this summer. He’s already completed the firs one. Taylor negotiated (he merg- ing of Sussex and Mitten Realty, making Sussex the largest in- dependent real estate company in That accomplished, he turned the Sussex reins over to Brian Thompson and started preparing for his second goal — the nomination for the federal Liber- als, at a rally at the Coach House Inn on July 9. And he’s locking beyond that to the election ex- pected this fall. In terms of strategy, he says that he’s ready right now. The T-shirts sported by Sussex Real- ty’s 320 salespeople read ‘‘En- thusiasm is Contagious.’’ Sounds like it’s working for Allan Taylor. It was a wonderful reception Tuesday to celebrate the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s National Day at the home cf the consul for Luxembourg, lawyer Klaus Priebe and his wife, Mary Griffiths — Priebe. Chartweil’s Liberal organizer Bill McEwen and his wife, Irene, were just back from their first cruise to Alaska, on board Holland America’s Noordam. They just loved it! Great to see one of the criginal members of the Players at this delightful reception. Longtime club member, veteran actor and realtor, Mare Howard, was in fine form, as were the Mitchells, Cecelia Smith, Val Anderson — even one of Vancouver's best- known professional actresses, Nicola Cavendish, dropped by to have a spot of tea. They were still celebrating their big win last week as The North Van Community Players produc- tion of Home wun the Best Play -Award and Best Supporting Ac- tress award for Joyce Geisler at the Theatre B.C. provincial finals last week in Campbell River. Two people that I realty missed on Saturday were George and Jean Simpson, both of whom who were instrumental in putting the North Shore Community Players on the map, particularly in Chekov’s A Country Scandal, Lunch Hour and The Seven Year Itch in which Pat Bolton starred as the hapless husband and I, believe it or not, played The Girl, the part made famous by Marilyn Monroe. Quite a celebration, too, on Saturday night as hotelier Roy Lisogar and wife Lorrie celebrated his 72nd birthday with a party at his waterfront villa in West Van. More than 120 guests attended the dinner party, a sumptuous — seafood buffet, catered by Roy’s staff from his Century Plaza : Hotel. Spotted among the many guests were CBC’s Phil Reimer, Van- couver Sun’s top executive Alex MacGillvray, the nead of neurosurgery at St. Paul’s Hospi- tal Dr. Don Griesdate, former Socred cabinet minister Grace NICOLA CAVENDISH (left) and Jeannie Brown at the Community Players 40th anniversary party.
