fae =F ASHION Protect skin from the cold MOST PEOPLE'S skin is suf- fering from the after-effects of the cald spell we are going through. To combat this, here are a few suggestions: © Make absolutely sure that you are using the correct type of cleanser, day moisturizer and hightcare skin food, not only for your individual type of skin but also for the cool weather. * Do not let your skin feel dry even for a moment. Remember, home heating already does a good job at evaporating your body moisture. No matter how busy your life is, foHow your daily skin care routine. It takes less than two minutes to do it, and isn’t your skin worth it? ¢ Drink more water. Tea and coffee will dehydrate your skin further. A lot of people find hot water or herbal tea a good substitute. ¢ Try the following home-made masque: blend one egg-yolk and half a teaspoon of olive oil. Mix well. Cleanse the skin on the face and neck area. Apply the masque all over. Leave it on for 15 minutes or until dry. Remove with a warm, damp face-cloth. Rinse with plenty of warm water. Follow with a good herbal freshener. Special tips for the masque: Do the above treatment at the end of an evening so that the skin does not get exposed to any makeup or changes of temperature. After the freshener, apply an extra light night cream as the masque is most nourishing. This recipe yields two applica- tions, so share the masque with your spouse, child or friend. Another rejuvenating masque is the soft collagen masque. Use these alternately every week. © Your skin goes through a tremendous shock each time you leave a warm building and face the cold outside. Cover your face — the most exposed area of the body — with a scarf or even gloved hands. ¢ For instant relief and help for rather dry, wrinkling skin around the eye and mouth area, try a jo- joba stick. This can be used in the night or in the daytime, by men and women, It is easy and conve- nient to carry in a purse or a brief- case. ® People with oily skins often do hot use any day or nightcare creams in the fear of making their skins more oily. The important thing to remember is that though these skins may appear oily, they often lack moisture. There are some special non-oily, moisturizing creams available. Consult your personal esthetician about this. © Gentlemen should do all of the above and also use a_ light moisturizing cream after the morn- ing shave. Conditioning lotion is kinder than an aftershave cologne. ® Do not do any facial exercises if the skin feels dry. Apply a moisturizer before you start, otherwise you may be adding more wrinkles.
