Fridge acts as a magnet
for kids’ entertainment

TWO NORTH Shore women have recognized the natural
inclination of children to play with fridge magnets and have
come up with a new toy in the process. The result is a
locally-developed product called MagnaPlay Playland Puz-
zles, a colorful assortment of puzzles doubling as fridge
magnets. The learning toys were created by Sandra Butt.

Fiona Ahrens is handling the
marketing end of the MagnaPlay
enterprise. Said Ahrens, *‘Children
quickly tire of the mechanics of
puzzle assembly with traditional
puzzles, but with Playland, the
surface magnetic moveable play
pieces extend the play value-for-
money well after the challenge of
assembly disappears.”*

details on Canadian and USS.

GOLDEN BEGINNINGS, a new
introduction service for seniors,
has opened its phone lites.

The service’s founder, Diane

Cseh, came up with the idea for
Golden Beginnings after a conver-
sation with her mother, a widow of
nine years.

“Fun and friendship

are ageless. But seniors are often
forgotten. ft is hard enough that
they must deal with budgets, hous-
ing, transportation and retirement.
They often have the added anxiety
of coping with it alone.”’

The service provides referrals to
friends or companions. Personal
interviews are held’ in a client’s
