Opera
offers

THE VANCOUVER Opera Guild
will disburse a $3,000 Career De-
velopment Grant in the spring of
1990.

This grant will be available to
Canadian citizens and those with
Landed Immigrant status only.
The deadline for the receipt of
completed applications is April 30,
1990.

The purpose of the grant is to
help people involved with opera,
or those preparing for a career in
the operatic field, to improve their
sxills or to work on a personal
project related to opera.

The Career Development Grant
will be awarded in late May, 1990.

Grant applications will be judg-

ed by a jury of three members of
the operatic/artistic community on
the following points: potential of

the applicant; artistic/operatic
background; and, merit of the
project.

The grant wil! be made available
at the start of the successful can-
didate’s project. The recipient
must send a report on the project
to the Vancouver Opera Guild not
later than three months after its
completion.

CELEBRATE THE Christmas
season with the West Vancouver
Ice Arena on Sunday, Dec. 17 at
its Children’s Ice Fantasy.

Open to children four to eight
years of age, the progran) includes
such activities as ice painting, snow
sculpture and face painting.

Pre-registration is required for
the event, which runs from 1! to
2:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 per child
(skate rental rot included).

Children must b.: accompanied by
an adult, who will be admiited free
of charge.

Tickets caa be purchased at the
West Vancouver Recreation Centre
and the West Vancouver Ice
Arena, and will also cover admit-
tance to the special Santa Skate
that follows the Ice Fantasy.
