Excellent returns of fall coho

ing to B.C. island and
mainland streams.

The. excellent returns and
higher . water conditions are
giving the river anglers great
action. These coho are in
prime shape and are striking
more at bright spinners and
spoons than roe at this time.

For spinners, Double In-
diana, Sneak, Vibrax, Mepps,
Panther Nartin and Bolo are

‘the deadliest. Spoons such as

the coho, Alaskan, Steelkit,

Crocodile and Kitimat also”

produce well.

Remember if you are com-
ing to the island all lures must
have single barbless hooks for
river angling.

I- know most of the lures
you purchase are equipped

with treble hooks uti it’s very
simple to replace those trebles
with a single siwash hook.
Any style single hook is legal
once the barb is flattened or
temoved.

This is a good time to test
your steelhead equipment as
the rods and reels are the same
for coho. By all indications
this will be another record for
those ocean-going Rainbow
trout.

’ We can judge our returns by
the runs that return earlier to
the Snake-Columbia systems
to the south of us.
Washington, Oregon and
Idaho have had record-
‘breaking cycles for the past
three years. .

This year as an example the
Idaho Fish and Game Com-
mission has increased the
limits of steelhead for the
sports angler.

Daily limits are raised from
two to three per day; from
four to nine in possession; and
