The West Vancouver Garden Club supports the council's plan to offer awards aS an incentive to selection committee to qualify for these awards is Mrs. Lydia Libby. In these times of world crisis this may appear to be a PET CORNER frivolous concern. However, one of the Club's guest speakers, Mr. Aubrey Peck, last year made the point that future travel opportunities for many of us will diminish. Travel costs, with ill health and age are just a few reasons why we will be forced to spend more time in our own locale, so, we should all make an effort to enhance the pleasure of living here by making it as attractive, and thereby, as “MAN?” a small long-haired male Dachshund bs looking for a very good home. To see him please phone Doris Orr 987-9015. Our sense of sight is as valuable as our sense of hearing and smell. We have bylaws which recognise the importance of the last two mentioned, yet, there are few blocks without at least one property which, because of its untidy, unloved, neglected look, gives the impression it is leased — that the occupants have no stake in the neighbourhood. Those without the physical or financial means to keep their premises tidy are not to be accused of being without pride, but those who are able to do so could make an effort to control foliage overgrowth, at least along. their boulevards and property- lines. We hope the residents of West Vancouver will sup- port the council in its at- tempt to keep West Van- couver beautiful. Pat Strike West Van Garden Club Mrs. F. after our hide over Sunshine Girls Dear Editor: An old friend of yours, Mrs. Ann Ferries, is after your hide again. She’s got up another petition against the “Sunshine Girls”, has hundreds of them printed up, and is_ presently distributing them. No matter. We enjoy the Sunshine Girls. Sometimes they are the only “upbeat” news in the whole paper, since, almost without ex- ception, they are engaged in some positive pursuit and are looking forward to improving their Position in life. Keep them coming, we have lots of pretty girls on the North Shore, let's have a look at them all. And I hope that their present garb of blouses, sweaters, slacks and jeams is indicative of the lousy weather and will change aS summer and beach attire becomes more suitable. Now, if you could get Mrs. Fernes to sit down with Hayden Stewart and try to determine why she has such a negative attitude. Donald M.
