be put in,” Warburton said.

Warburton pointed out
that the new program would
cost taxpayers more as
teachers have to be retrained
to handle the new
curriculum, which he called

“way beyong the scope of
any teacher in the district.”

The board
Warburton’s proposal to
write the minister of
education and ask him to
suspend the implementation
of the curriculum, despite its
own acknowledgement that
some kind of consumer
education should be taught
in district schools.

The British Columbia
School Trustee Association
executive recently expressed
concern to Smith over the
consumer education
curriculum, which it felt
showed the political bias of
its authors. The association
