I would differ with the.

view that higher quality
education must cost more. I
have visited many schools
and find that = quality
education is, in great part, a
function of quality principals
and quality teachers. We
feel very supportive of the
classroom teacher who has a
difficult job at the best of
times.

Your correspondent -is
“correct in reporting that we
have opposed Community
Co-ordinators and not the
Public Use of Schools
concept. Basically we do not
feel that the school taxpayer
should be funding the
recreational programs, the
social services, the com-
munity services and the
quasi-political activities
which Community Co-
Ordinators~support. We are
of the opinion that this
expenditure is illegal under
the Public Schools. Act.
Further we find the
inequitable allocation of
additional staff to these few
schools to be inexcusable.

Finally your
correspondent is right:
education is far more than a
question of dollars and
cents; it is a question of
VALUES. Trustee Sarsfield
and myself are working for
better value for your school
tax dollar.

An SPCA
correction

May I make a correction
to your article ‘West
Vancouver signs new deal
with SPCA"?

During discussions with
Municipal officials the SPCA
never impled that they were
not willing to pick up dead
animals or respond = to
emergency calls.

It was assumed that if the
bylaw officers included these
along with their other new
duties it would save them
funds.

They were not aware that
all emergency service has
always been done free for
the community by our
branch.
