Thieves smash meters

A Lower Lonsdale thief
damaged $16,000
worth of parking
meters to steal $30 on
March 16,

The thief, or possibly
thieves, likely used a tire iron
to break the three meters

located in the 100-block of

East Ise Street and in the 100
block of West Esplanade,
according to the North
Vancouver RCMP.

On March 8 and on March
1], sever meters were dam
aged in the same area by
thieves looking for change.

Most of the damaged
meters can be repaired. Each
metre costs $4,000. Police
estimated at least $5,000
damage was done to the
meters. An orange or rust-
coloured older model Nissan
may be linked to the parking
change thelts, according to
the police.
