That’s when the students make their first stage appearance at Presentation House after months of learning the theatre ropes. **We are calling it Dramaworks Winter Celebration because it is a way of celebrating and sharing our achievements,’’ said Dramaworks director Jennifer Riach. The seven to nine-year-olds will perform a Japanese mime play, while students in the 10-plus group tackle a_ pot-of-gold-at- the-end-of-the-rainbow play. The teens will revive scenes from Dyian Thomas’ Linder Milkwood. Adding flavor to the 7 p.m. performance will be musicians Peggy Stortz and George Bam- ford. GVRD hosts Island Nights, Festive Lights THE GREATER Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) is hosting a new outdoor evening festival at Deas Island Regional Park in Delta. ‘*Island Nights and Festive Lights’’ will appeal to all ages. Held beside the Fraser River under the stars, the event features gaily lit river’s-edge trails, a Ted- dy Bear Checkup Clinic, lighted heritage buildings, carol singing, concessions, entertainment, and a roaring bonfire on the shore. “Island Nights and Festive Lights’’ runs until Saturday, Dec. 12. The event is held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and the site closes at 9 p.m. Tickets are $2 per person, available on site only.
