PREPARED WITH the assistance of the Alcohol-Drug Education Service, the TRY TEST is an in- formative quiz designed to test your level of awareness of the alcohol and drug problems in our society. The TRY TEST is divided into two sections. The first section con- tains questions about general awareness of alcohol and drugs. Included here is the second section containing questions related to personal use of alcohol. When answered honestly, this portion of the TRY TEST can provide warning signs to those who are unaware that they have a prob- lem and also to those who may be in danger of developing one. ANSWERS This questionnaire deals primarily with alcohol use because aicohol is the drug of choice for most people. However, the ques- tions and persona! evaluation can also be used to detect possible problems with other drugs, in- cluding ‘‘street’? Geags such as marijuana ard cocaine, or prescription drugs. With this in mind, the TRY TEST personal evaluation should be scored us follows: a “‘yes’’ to any one question should be taken as a signal that the person is potentially at risk; a ‘‘yes” to any two questions should be taken as a definite warning sign; a “‘yes’’ an- swer to three or more questions clearly indicates that professional consultation and evaluation are advised.
