Jazz meets reggae LOCAL AND Vancouver jazz and reggae musicians will come together at Waterfront Park June 13 to jam as part of the summer events planned for the local park. “It’s a little more loose,’’ said session organizer Dave Taylor. “Instead of having the prearranged bands we’re going to have it be just a jam ses- sion.”” Last year’s benefit netted $250 for Hansen and this year organizers hope the free concert will bring in about $360, bringing total funds raised to $1,000. Taylor is working to get reggae players performing in Vancouver to put in an appearance at the benefit: ‘‘We’re trying to get hold of some people there.”’ Like last year, this year’s concert will again try to shy away from play- ing rock music. ‘‘That’s it again,’’ he said. ““To get away from rock and the blues. “They’re all very nice but 1 would rather listen to Muddy Waters any day.”’ For every donation, listeners will get a draw ticket for approximately 30 prize draws set to be held throughout the five-hour jam session-cum- concert. “We would like to make it into an annual event,’’ said organizer Taylor.
