OPEN LETTER TO DISTRICT OF NORTH VANCOUVER This letter objects to the District of North Van- couver’s plain to reduce parking on Prospect Road, so as “to ensure a reasonible degree of salety in order to reduce (the district's) exposure to liability."” The problem, it seers, iy that the road is not wide enough to facilitate the speeds that drivers find ae- ceptable, without hitting parked vehicles or, bas anyone mentioned, children or adulis or cars trying to cross the sireet Tram above the rowd, Why not cure one of the major problems — the volume of traffic along Prospect Road’ Originally, when Prospect Road was paved, there was no connec- tion to Montroyal Boulevard via the “Beaver Road" connection, and Prospect Read was a mice quiet street with few problems. The real solution, 1 suggest, is a proper traffic con- nector from Capilano/Delbrook to Lonsdale, via the Montroval connection that was anticipated when Firefighters say thanks Montroval was extended east of Delbrook. Montroyal Boulevard east of Delbrook is nice and wide, has po Hight corners and visibility problems, and no “tratfic safety and parking’ problems. } suggest that the quiet, non-complaining residents of Prospect Road, and Newdale Court and Ventura Crescent are having to suffer at the expense of good sense at the district offices, and a very vocal Mon- troyal Boulevard lobby. Why can't the district solve the basic problem and build a proper road systent connecting Montroyal to Lonsdale, rather than take a low-cost band-aid: solu- lion. Do we have to have a battle af numbers -— com- plaints by one group of homeowners, versus com- plaints by another group of fomeowners, and heated emotions and anger, fo encourage the district to be sensible?
