Robson Square Cinema for two performances — Tuesday, September 30 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, October 1 at 12 noon. A special opera-related event from Vancouver Opera. Not your average whistler, Jason Serinus has been whistling operatic arias since adolescence. From modest beginnings on radio and at San Francisco’s Corner Grocery Bar. Serinus’ art and repertoire have grown to include arias, art songs, lieder, classics of the 30's and 40's, operetta, showtunes, contemporary and original music. His most recent success was on the television special “You're a Good Skate, Charlie Brown”, where as the voice of Woodstock he whistled “Q mio babbino caro” for Lucy's skating competition. Combining the skills of a dedicated musician and concert artist with those of a fun-loving entertainer, Jason Serinus has’ elevated whistling from the level of novelty to that of a valid artisuic medium, capturing the imagination of audiences everywhere with his otherwordly talent. While in Vancouver Jason will give a special “whistling workshop” with the mem- bers of the Vancouver Opera Chorus. His performances DRESSED TO KILI (R) Capitol 2:45, 4:50, 7:00, 9:05. L.
