DRAWINGS AND watercolors by West Vancouver artist
Houchang Seyhoun will be on display in the West Vancouver
Memoriai Library June 27 to July 31.

Professor Seyhoun, a prominent architect and painter, has lec-
tured worldwide and has had exhibitions in many major cities
and museums. In 1972 his works were included in an exhibition
with Salvador Dali and Picasso at the University of
Massachusetts. His paintings are found in European and North
American collections. All paintings displayed will be for sale. For

West Vancouver wil! come alive with music in the air, art in
storefront windows, food and festivities when the Harmony Arts
Festival takes place Aug. 8-14.
To bring visual impact to the community, the festival is hold-
ing a workshop to create 70. decorative topiaries for the mer-
chants. The workshop will be held Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m.-1
p.m. at Klee Wyck, 200 Keith Rd., West Vancouver, to make
_these funky four-foot trees.
"The cost of the workshop is $5 including materials. The topi-

The West Vancouver Ferry Building Gallery will present an
exhibition-of cartoons by Len Norris July 5-10.
The show, entitled Norris Retrospective, is a selection of his
cartoons from: 1953-84. Norris is well-known and widely respect-
ed as one of Canada’s foremost political cartoonists, with a
career spanning 40 years in Vancouver. A long-time resident of
West Vancouver, he directed much of his wit and satire toward
our North Shore environment.

Twenty acts are scheduled to play the Reggae on the Island
’94 festival this year at Ladysmith’s Transfer Beach Park. The
“event is billed as a “world” music festival with emphasis on reg-
gae and will take place July 1-3.

' Bands included are: steel band Soul Survivors, Maestro Fresh
Wes, Jazzy B and the Boys, Pato Canton, Carla Marshall, Joe
Higgs, The Heptones with Leroy Sibbies and Grammy-award

_nominee Judy Mowatt (Bob Marley’s support vocalist). More
bands are to be announced. .
