Bachelor’s degree in ge- ography. By Kevin Gillies Sports Reporter But the memories of university, and the career he hopes to pursue will be more reflective of his four years on the turf than in the classroom. Rattee, 21, has played out his four-year soccer scholarship and now he hopes to become a pro- fessional at the game he has played all his fife. At the age of four, his older brother Scott, 25, brought him to a soccer practice and he has played the game ever since. Since being awarded the schol- arship, the 1990 Handsworth grad has played centre-back with the SFU Clansmen, who won their District championship this year. The Clansmen advanced to the area final, but lost in the final. He says the highlight of his four-year stint with the Clansmen was the team’s run at the National Championships in Boca Raton, Florida during his second year. He has been the team captain for the last two years. Rattee’s coach, Keith Watts, says, ‘‘Todd has good leadership qualities. He’s good at motivating players around him.” This year Rattee was named to the Northwest Collegiate Con- ference Ail-Star Team. He was also named to the All- Conference National Athletic In- tercollegiate Association’s (NAIA) District One All-Star Team which puts him among the elite of 1, 200 players. He hopes to play in the North American Professional Soccer League after graduation. Because of the distinction, it is possible he could be named All- American player of the year. Watts says Rattee plays his Power-skating course set: Position well and is an excellent all-round player. He is quick, with great aerial ability, he says. Now Rattee wants to try to take soccer to the next level. He hopes to get a shot at play- ing with the Vancouver 86ers in the summer and he is optimistic.
