UESTION: Our master bedroom is right over the carport. Is there any
way to make this room warm in the winter time?

This is an age-old battle with this style of home.
The problem is created because the heating ducts run
through the cold air space between the joists in the ccil-

ing of the existing carport.

If you are planning on enclosing the garage or
renovating the garage ceiling, we recommend that you
seriously consider the removal of the carport ceiling.

Foliowing the removal of the cciling, wrap the

ducts with a
INSULATION.

We would also suggest that you consider the
installation of a 2 speed fan motor on your fumace. The
furnace will be running at ali times. The fumace runs at
full speed while on the “ heating cycle”, and runs at the
“circulatory cycle” when the heating cycle is completed. _ postage.

The “circulatory cycle” will be running at 1/3 of the

R.P.M. of the “Heating Cycle”.

The important thing is that the warm air is mov-
ing through the ducts at all times, keeping the ducts
warm. This will also result in generating air flow in the
furnace on a continual basis, picking up heat through the
cold ait registers and transmitting the heat throughout

the rest of the house.

If you dow’t have a cold air register in the base-
ment, you should consider having one installed.
