WEST COAST ARTIST Stewart
Jacobs will be holding an art show
at the Capilano Resource Centre
this Saturday (Dec. 15).

The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. show will
feature one of a kind ceramic
bowls etched and painted with
West Coast native designs.

Jacobs, from the Capilano
Tribe of the Squamish Nation,
does not refer to his depictions as
totem crests, but rather ‘‘free
spirits’ of the mythological world
of native peoples.

A former Carson Graham Sec-
ondary student, he experimented
with clay and gradually developed
his own techniques and skills.

One of his most popular bowls
features a life cycle. Animals are
shown interacting with each other,
sometimes in harmony and some-
