City Council voted Monday to pay the estimated $8,000 to $10,000 cost of underground electrical lines to serve their soon-to-be-upgraded lighting. This is in addition to the $10,000 council has already granted toward the $43,000 cost of installing the new lights. The underground wiring is in accordance with the city’s long- term goal of providing under- ground service connections to all city facilities. About 100 metres of overhead wiring will be replaced by the con- nection, which will also carry the telephone wires. The money will come from the general contingen- cies fund.
