Doug Collins ® get this straight @ TOMORROW, PROVINCIAL perverts will gather at the University of British Columbia for the Fourth Annual Regional Lesbian and Gay Conference. And it passeth human understanding that UBC could permit such a meeting while bullying the engineering students into discar- ding such harmless affairs as the Lady Godiva ride. Two hundred people are ex- pected to attend the event, and things being what they are these days it is surprising that a bevy of federal ministers, MPs, mayors and university officials will not be on hand to greet them. That will come later, no doubt. I note, for example, that the minister for international trade advertises in Angles, ‘‘Van- couver’s Community Newspaper For Lesbians And Gays’. The March edition of that rag contain- ed a quarter-page advertisement signed by a smiling Pat Carney, and the caption read: ‘“‘Best wishes to the new Emperor and Empress. We ap- preciate all the fine work the court does on behalf of the communi- ty."’ Which meant, I assume, that Carney is raising a howl for the pair who became the Homo of the Year and Lesbian of the Year respectively. Information on the odd clan that is to assemble at UBC was in the Marxist-Lesbian News, other- wise known as Kinesis, the Van- couver Status of Women sheet that is supported by your tax dollars whether you like it or not. I learned from Kinesis that ““workshops”’ at this three-day conference include: Lesbian SM (sado-masochism — whip and leather stuff); Gay and Lesbian Youth (no kid too young to learn?); Feminism for Men; Sexual Orientation Legisla- tion in Canada, and Living with AIDS (which should be retitled Dying with AIDS). Why does a university allow its premises to be used by groups whose unnatural sexual practices are responsible for the deadly plague now creeping across the continent? For although every ef- fort is being made to play down the homosexual role in AIDS, it remains true that homosexuals are the main progenitors of the disease. In February, there were 206 cases of AIDS in B.C., and 95 per cent of them were homosexuals. Yet the fiction goes out that ‘we are all in this together’’. In a sense we are, but don’t tell me that homosexuals and their infamous promiscuous ways are not the main menace. Would the university permit a three-day conference on AIDS — The Homosexual Threat? Would it permit one on Im- migration: The Destruction of English Canada? How about a Friends of South Africa Conference? YES, that's all it costs at the Bay It would not, in my opinion, if only because of the threat of violence from the Loony Left. Why, then, does it permit a Celebration of Perversity and Death? Because we have gone bonkers, that’s why. k ok ok Three women teachers in a Van- couver school have written to me concerning the column in which I cealt with the March issue of the B.C. Teacher magazine. That was the issue that carried 19 articles on such subjects as the communist- run African National Congress, Marxist Mozambique, etc., but not one on education in B.C. Here’s what the women had to say: “Three cheers... You have writ- ten what many teachers have thought for years about the prac- tices and beliefs of the BCTF. “There are many of us who, given the opportunity, would opt out of this ‘‘radical political organization’’. Let’s get back to educating. “The BCTF gives our funds to various political causes and organizations which have nothing to do with education, and the | membership is not given a vote on where these funds go...Here are three ‘‘ordinary’’ teachers who do not fall for BCTF propaganda!”’ The writers had the courage to sign their names and to identify their school. But I won’t give those details here.
