Courts hear
murder cases
this month

PRELIMINARY HEARINGS into three separate
murder cases will be held in North Shore courts
over the next several weeks.

22 when Evan Clifford
Evans faces a West Van-
couver hearing on first-degree
murder charges that arise
from the shooting death of
Brinks guard Robert Per-
sowich during a robbery of
the Park Royal liquor store
in late June.

Since then, Evans has
been charged with an addi-
tional 27 counts arising from
a number of other robberies.

On November 26, North
Vancouver court will be the
scene of the preliminary
hearing into the second-
degree murder charge laid
against Kenneth James
Simpson.

Boyanne Fanucchi.

Preliminary hearings are
held to determine if there is
sufficient evidence to war-
rant a trial. In most cases a
ban on publication of
evidence is applied to a pre-
liminary hearing.
