Richmond Site of championships RICHMOND AMATEUR Baseball Association and Richmond Auto Body Bison Basebail Club will be hosting both the Western Canadian and Canadian National Bison Baseball Champion- ships for boys aged 17 and 18, The National Champion- ships coincide with National Baseball Week, August 19- 25. All games will be played at Minoru Park located in Richmond between No. 3 Rd. and Gilbert Road just north of Granville Avenue. Both tournaments are round robin events. The Western Champion- Ships will be held August 9- 11 and will include the champions of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia along with the host Richmond team. There will be five games dai- ly on Friday and Saturday at 9 a.in., 12 noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. A play-off between the top two teams will be held on Sunday at | p.m. and, at 4 p.m. if necessary. The Canadian National Championships will be held from August 23 to 25 and will include champions from Auantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec and West:rn Canada as well as the host, Rich- mond Auto Body. There will be five games daily on Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24 at 9 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m., 6 p-m., and 9 p.m. On Sunday August 25, the third and fourth place teams will play at noon for the bronze medal. The first and second place teams will play at 3 p.m. for the gold medal. Baker rides to victory for Timmy ROD BAKER of North Vancouver won the veterans class and was third overall, in the third annual “Timmys Dirt Bike Marathon’’ held by the Lions Club at Hemlock Valley July 20 and - 21. Individual riders and teams were asked to get pledges for kilometers ridden in the 24 hour period from 12 noon Saturday til 12 noon Sunday. Baker rode 37 Japs of the 14 kilometers course for a total of 518 kilometers. One hundred and seventy riders took patt, raising a total of $17,000 for the ‘Tiny Tims Crippled Chidrens Fund.
