I'd ordered them from the States,” Gary

recalled as he lovingly gazed upon his fer-

menting brood. “And just the day before I

was to pick the barrels up I discovered this

storage room under the building that the

bank didn’t use because it was too damp.”
Too damp for old bank records, maybe,

but a perfect environment for storing wine.
What started out as just a few barrels

bought-up by some valued customers two

years ago, has turned into an advanced

-wine-making process. So much so that

after the second and third time they really
start to get into it; they get over the intimi-
dation factor and really start to learn all
about the wines and the different grape
varietals.”

The Malones have also opened a My
Wine Cellar store on Pemberton Avenue,
but it is in the Central Lonsdale outlet,
with it’s true wine cellar, that Gary gets to
pursue his passion for wine.

His next project? Home-made cham-
pagne.

And right under Central Lonsdale’s nose.
