istrict roads need repaving Open letter to the Mayor and Coupcis of North Vancouver Disirict: A few months age i attended a town meeting inthe Lyan Valley area. | brought up the subject of repaying certain roads, namely Appin Road, Arberlyn Drive and Mountain Highway. So far. [have not seen any action or heard ef any possibility that repaving these roads can occur, F want to remind you that both Arborlyna and Mountain Highway are bus coutes and extremely busy roads, Your “wiggly fine" patch- ing efforts are useless. At the intersection of Appin Road and Alderlynn Drive there ure two large depressions, which, if they get worse during the winter months, will take out the suspen- sion of soine low- riding cars. | trust you have sufficient insurance to cover any claims that might result, Lam fully aware chat Cunds are limited and that repaying goes in sei eveles. However, E have fived in this area for almost eight years. during which time there has been no road paving of any type. I would like to remind you that, dike everyone else, the resi- dents of this area pay taxes. and thus deserve the same services. Perhaps we could cut back on our municipal hall decorating. which is not necessary with regards to paintings, ete.. und use some of these funds to benefit the population as a whole rather than only those working in the hall (and being paid for by the taxpay- crs). I took forward lo a positive reply tegarding the repaving of the roads mentioned. Jan Hills North Vancouver Jealous of Jewish success Dear Editor: Re: the argument about Jewish ownership of the American media Oct. 2, 1994, both Doug Collins and his critic, Alex Rzepa, have missed the point. Anyone who has paid attention to the establishment in North America must be aware that the participation of Jews in industry and commerce is far out of pro- portion to their total numbers. | am not Jewish, by the way. But if you examine Jewish par- ticipation in the arts and sciences you find the same predominance. All this leads to the conclusion — whether we gentiles like it or not — that the Jews are far and away the cleverest and most accomplished people in history. This leads them to exert fre- quently undue influence in areas where their interests lic, which creates considerable resentment. itis well to realize that the Jews were not persecuted over the last 1,900 years because they cru- cified Christ. That was just a handy excuse. The real reason was indigna- tion and jealousy at their financial success. C.D. L.
