Numerous letters and phone
calis have failed to move North
Vancouver District -Hal on two
issues surrounding Edgemont
Village. Perhaps a letter published
in the News will produce some ac-
tion.

@The pedestrian crossing at

. Queens and Edgemont is danger-
ous. It is the only crosswalk I have
ever seen that crosses a busy road
diagonzily.

If covncil cannot improve the
situation then I suggest we contact
the people at Guinness and have it
verified as the longest and most
dangerous crosswalk in North
America (and the most stupid, for
good measure).

For the last five years we have had
to suffer the results of these fallen

- cherries staining sidewalks, carpets

in stores, carpets in cars, ruined
shoes, etc.

It is extremely expensive to clean
carpets and the like after they have
been stained with cherries, but
council once again will take no re-
sponsibility for such damage,
despire the fact that they were
responsible for planting the trees.

take any action on either problem.

pressure on their councillors and
on district hall-to rectify these
problems.

Highrise critics ‘dreary’

Dear Editor:

There appear to be some politi-
cians and several writers to your
gewspaper who object to highrise

They rattle off ridiculous
phrases against them without one
word of proof for their statements.

Because we should preserve our
valuable forests and agricultural

land, the most sensible way to
grow is upwards.

Do these anti-highrise propo-
nents want to see six-storey build-
ings stretching ever further into the
countryside? Such a dreary pro-
spect can only come from dreary
minds.
