in spotlight ENTRANTS FROM across Canada participated in the Canadian Fitness Challenge Finals. Each of six national regions .was represented at the finals by a team of four consisting of one man and one woman under forty and one man and one woman over forty. Thie members of the team chosen to represent the British Columbia Region are: Jennefer McMahon of Lions Bay; John Yanyshyn of Victoria; Myrna Howard of North Vancouver; and John Roberts of Shawniegyt Lake. They competed against the other five Regional teams of Prairies, Northern Ontasio, Southern Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic. The Canadian SAVE UP Fitness Challenge was staged in Toronto on August 3, 4 and 5. The purpose of the Challenge is to promote physical fitness and upgrade the national attitude toward health and recreational fitness. All competitors undergo a rigorous series of tests designed to assesss the following basic components: muscular strength, muscular endurance and power, flex- ibility, an aerobic capacity, coordination, aerobic fitness and agility. Along with these, certain psychological factors (determination, adaptability, cooperation) are an integral component of the activities.
