District unanimously agreed Monday not to sup- port Billerman's request for an access road, four kilometres of which comes within District jurisdiction. District Ald. Billerman said he’ would take full responsibility for refurbishing the land where the road would be built, after the mine closed down, and his argument in favor of the road is that it would give picnickers access to the GVRD park. But District Mayor Marilyn Baker said, ‘‘It’s not the sort of place to take the kids for a picnic.” Billerman said there are no guarantees that the site will turn into a full-fledged mine, but indications show that it could be as profitable as Britannia mine, providing jobs for between 700 and 1,000 people. He said a 1918 report of the Lynn Headwater mine estimated 700,000 tons of zint, worth about $70 mil- lion on today’s market. Billerman said despite depleted ore’markets, zinc is still holding its own, worth between 44 and 47 cents per pound. Billerman said he is plann- ing a three-way deal between claim owner Scope Developments, an unnamed interested mining company and Onsun. Moving projectors on tracks Min. 5 Ib. Bag 529 tb.
