A NEW sidewalk on Queens
Rd. will cost North Van-
couver District Council
$13,000.

Council agreed to a re-
quest from the Traffic and
Safety Committee for a
sidewatk on the south side of
Queens Road from Colwood
Avenue to William Griffin
Pool.

The committee felt the
high traffic volume and pe-
destrian use indicated the
need for a sidewalk. The
estimated cost is $13,000 and
will be paid for out of the
Capital Budget Sundry,
Land Aquisition, etc. ac-
count.

Council also agreed to
spend $300 to help a resident
at Fern Street and Mountain
Highway alter a fence to
improve driver visibility.

The owner of the property
on the south east corner has
agreed to a request from the
Supervisor of Traffic to alter
the height and location of
the fence. Council authoriz-
ed $300 toward altering the

fence to satisfy visibility re-
quirements,

Council also discussed the
possibility of installing a
traffic signal at Fern Street
and Mountain Hwy. The
traffic and safety committee
meeting of April 30 express-
ed concern about the need

for a signal, Ald. Craig
Clark said that a guard is
present at this area and a
signal would only add to the
confusion. Clark also said a
signal would not prevent ac-
cidents in the winter that oc-
cur due to icy road condi-
tions.
