APPROVAL BY West
Vancouver municipal
council has cleared the
way for the sixth an-
nual running of the
Khahtsahlano Road
Race in mid-November.

The race will be run Sun-
day, Nov. 18, with a 1Skm
route taking competitors
from Horseshoe Bay Ao the
Park Royal Shopping Centre
finish line.

The route for this year’s
race will be the same as ut
was in 1982 with a section of
the run along Marine Drive
that was cut from last year’s
race returned.

The Marine Drive portion
was removed last vear
because of concerns over the
safety of mixing runners and
traffic on the narrow road
but a committee ot
municipal staff members.

The route will take run-
ners along Marine Drive
trom Horseshoe Bay to
Gallagher Place and then use
upper level roads from that
point, returning to Marine
Drive at 29th and down to
Bellevue at 28th for the race
to the finish line

Runners will be kept off
the road until five minutes
before the start of the event
and wil! be restricted to right
hand lanes throughout the
run. The runners will be ac-
companied by lead and fol.
lowing cars and mayor in-
tersections will be marked to
warn motorists that the
eventis in progress

As well as approving the

evaluate the event when it is
run and to provide a report
to council that will include
recommendations on condi
trons for the 1O&S road race
