Appearing June 26 in North Vancouver provincial court, Elizabeth Butzow, 26, was ordered to stand trial on charges stemming from the Dec. 29, 1990 incident. Butzow is charged with criminal negligence and dan- gerous driving causing bodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and driving with an alcohol level over .08. Butzow’s former fiance, David Galfson, 29, had his legs crushed between two cars. Galison has since filed a civil suit against Butzow and a number of other parties. Buizow is to appear July 17 in Supreme Court to set a tial date. NV power outage NORTH VANCOUVER was in the dark Tuesday morn- ing. A ‘“‘compassitor bank failure’ is being blaied for a power outage. B.C. Hydro senior communications coordinator Verne Prior said the power outage was locetcd at the power company’s North Vancouver sub-station and lasted for about 26 minutes. The area affected was bounded by Mosquito Creek to the west and Mountain Highway to the east. Concealed weapon AN 18-YEAR-old Vancouver man faces a charge of car- rying a concealed weapon following the recent search of several vehicles at Ambleside Park by West Vancouver Police. According to a police spokesman, five vehicles were observed to be ‘‘racing’’ in the 900-block of Marine Drive. The cars gathered at the park and police moved in to check the vehicles. The occupant of one vehicle was found to he cazrying a 13-inch kitchen kuife tucked into the back of his pants. Police also recovered a 14-inch knife found under a pas- Senger seat. . Chung Tien Wang was arrested and released on a Promise to appear in West Vancouver provincial court on July 22 to face the weapens charge. Cooking fire THE NORTH Vancouver District Fire Department was called cut to a house fire June 25 which resulted in ap- proximately $75,000 damage. A fire department spokesman said the blaze broke out at about 6:50 a.m. in the kitchen of a house located at 2650 Byron Road. The fire resulted when an occupant of the house attempted to cook a meal in the kitchen. There were no injuries. THE VANCOUVER Regional Transit Commission has approved expanded Sunday and holiday hours of opera- tion for the SeaBus. “The commission has approved additional sailings in order to meet the increased demand that SeaBus tradi- tionally sees in the summer,’’ said Vancouver Regional Tressit Commission chairman and North Vancouver District Mayor Murray Dykeman. “SeaBus popularity with tourists is one of the reasons for increased ridership,’’ added Dykeman. The number of people taking SeaBus on Sundays and holidays has grown steadily over the years. SeaBus will increase Sunday and hotiday sailings to every 15 minutes. The extended hours will be in effect until September 2. To complement the increase in SeaBus sailings, the commission also approved additional bus service to Lonsdale Quay.
